Gucci is pleased to announce the opening of Gucci Ginza Gallery, a new space that celebrates art, creativity and cultural collaboration on the upper floors of Gucci Ginza, the flagship shop in Ginza, Tokyo. The gallery will provide a unique experience through exhibitions that embody Gucci's core values of craftsmanship and innovation, while cultivating connections with artists and creators from Japan and abroad.
The opening will be YUZURU HANYU: A JOURNEY BEYOND DREAMS featured by ELLE, an exclusive photo exhibition featuring figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu. Since starting skating at the age of 4, Yuzuru Hanyu has continued to challenge himself and has made great progress as an athlete and as a human being. One year after turning professional in July 2022, while walking on a new path, wearing Gucci, for the August issue of the fashion magazine "ELLE Japon", for the first time a full-fledged fashion portrait. I challenged myself to take pictures.
Photographer TAKAY, who is based in Tokyo and New York and is active globally in everything from fashion magazines to world campaigns, was in charge of the photography. This exhibition, which opens on the same day as the August issue of ELLE Japon, will feature visuals from magazines as well as works that capture Hanyu's various expressions that can only be seen at the Gucci Ginza Gallery. Illuminate that talent from a new perspective.

This photo exhibition is organized in a minimalist space, where one floor of the 7th floor of Gucci Ginza has been transformed into an authentic white cube gallery, so that the individuality of each work stands out. On the one hand, there are continuous photographs that are full of dynamism, as if they are moving in front of you, and visuals that capture the splendid physicality that dominates the space. Yes, through a multifaceted approach, you can experience a personal face-to-face with the existence of Yuzuru Hanyu.
Yuzuru Hanyu said the following about the shooting and photo exhibition. “During the photo shoot, I was able to make use of the emotional expressions and arm movements that I had cultivated through figure skating. I think that you will discover a new side of Yuzuru Hanyu.”
The Gucci Ginza Gallery will continue to celebrate individuality and creativity, and plan to develop exhibitions and exclusive events that explore the infinite possibilities born from the fusion of diverse artistic fields.
