Tokyo Midtown Hibiya (Yurakucho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, operator: Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd.) is holding an event called "HIBIYA CINEMA FESTIVAL 2023" that proposes various "new ways to enjoy movies" based on the concept of "an experiential film festival starting from Hibiya." ” will be held at Hibiya Step Square from October 13th (Friday) to 22nd (Sunday).

“HIBIYA CINEMA FESTIVAL” has been held every year since 2018, when Tokyo Midtown Hibiya opened, and has attracted a cumulative total of approximately 2.5 million visitors over the past five years as an annual event that enlivens “Hibiya, the city of movies and entertainment.”

The theme for 2023, which will be the 6th time, is "Nagara Cinema" . You can enjoy movies that you would normally watch in a movie theater or in a quiet indoor space with your family and friends in your own style, such as while talking, eating, playing, or lying down. A space that you can use will appear in Hibiya Step Square. We offer a movie experience that you can enjoy while stimulating your five senses with an openness that you cannot experience at a movie theater. In addition, after this event ends, the 36th Tokyo International Film Festival will be held in the Hibiya, Yurakucho, Marunouchi, and Ginza areas from October 23rd (Monday) to November 1st (Wednesday). Please enjoy autumn in Hibiya, which is dyed in the color of movies.

The theme of the 2023 HIBIYA CINEMA FESTIVAL is "Nagara Cinema" . You can enjoy watching movies in a quiet movie theater or in a calm space, while having fun talking about the movie, while eating, relaxing while lying down and rocking, and letting your children play with the play equipment. We will provide a new movie experience where you can enjoy movies casually in six “Nagara Zones”.

The films nominated at the Toronto Japanese Film Festival, which is held in Canada every June, will be screened for eight days from October 13th (Friday) to October 20th (Friday) as part of the special selection of “Toronto Japanese Film Festival in Hibiya.'' We will show one movie a day. All of the films screened are Japanese films, but with English subtitles, English speakers can easily experience popular Japanese films. Furthermore, before the screening, the directors of each film will take the stage and talk about behind-the-scenes stories and their thoughts on the film in a 30-minute talk show. The Toronto Japanese Film Festival (TORONTO JAPANESE FILM FESTIVAL = TJFF) is a film festival organized mainly by the Japanese Canadian Cultural Center (JCCC) in Toronto, and is now in its 12th year.
