The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture operate "START Box," a creative space that utilizes vacant storefronts in metropolitan housing and other locations, to provide young artists with a place to create and support their ongoing activities.
This time, as an opportunity for artists working at START Box to present their works, we will be holding the "START Box Exhibition vol.2" following last year's event, in cooperation with Yurakucho Art Urbanism YAU. We hope you will come and visit us.

About START Box
START Box is an initiative of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Arts Council Tokyo, a public interest incorporated foundation under the Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture, to provide creative space for young artists who have difficulty securing a studio or other facility, and to support their ongoing activities. In April 2023, we opened "START Box Sasahata Hatsu," a creative space that utilizes vacant storefronts in metropolitan housing in Sasazuka and Hatagaya, Shibuya Ward, and in November 2023, we opened "START Box Odaiba," a creative space that utilizes vacant storefronts of the Tokyo Metropolitan Housing Supply Corporation in Odaiba.
About YAU
Yurakucho Art Urbanism (YAU) was launched in February 2022 as a pilot program to demonstrate how the city can create an innovative driving force together with art. Since October 2022, some projects have been co-hosted with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and efforts have been made to connect art and business in Otemachi, Marunouchi, and Yurakucho by widely publicizing the art production process in the city and inducing diverse encounters. In March 2024, an alternative space called "YAU CENTER" was opened on the street-level section of the 1st floor of the Kokusai Building. We will continue to work together to create a "city with artists" by having many points of contact with the city.
