“Imperial Theater Exhibition ~THE WORLD OF IMPERIAL THEATRE~” will be held at Ginza Mitsukoshi from Friday, March 28, 2025

The Imperial Theater, a hall of fame in the Japanese theatrical world, will sadly close in February 2025. Mitsukoshi has collaborated with the Imperial Theater, which has a connection with the theater since the Taisho era.

Ginza Mitsukoshi will hold the "Imperial Theater Exhibition – THE WORLD OF IMPERIAL THEATRE" from Friday, March 28th to Sunday, April 27th, 2025, in the event hall on the 7th floor of the new building. The Imperial Theater, the hall of fame in the Japanese theatrical world, will sadly close in February 2025. The exhibition will connect the feelings of customers towards this theater to the future, and will be delivered in collaboration with Mitsukoshi and the Imperial Theater, which has had a connection with the theater since the Taisho era, as seen in the advertisement "Today is the Imperial Theater, tomorrow is Mitsukoshi." (※ Friday, March 28th is a special invitation day for MI Card Plus members.)



The venue will feature panels and video exhibits looking back on the theater's history, as well as photo spots made from actual signs and seats, and original merchandise for sale.
Details regarding admission tickets, exhibit content, merchandise sales, etc. will be released after late January 2025.

The current Imperial Theater, which opened in 1966, has staged over 350 plays, musicals, and kabuki productions (excluding revivals), but it has been announced that it will be temporarily closed in February 2025 due to redevelopment plans. The theater has delivered the latest entertainment in line with the times, not only to Japan but to the world, including the world premiere of the opening production, Gone with the Wind, as well as the original musical Marie Antoinette and the stage production Spirited Away, and has been loved by many theater performers and fans.
