It will be held from May 26th (Wednesday). Tomokazu Matsuyama, an artist based in New York, the forefront of contemporary art, will publish his first collection of works in Japan. After graduating from university, Matsuyama traveled to the United States alone in his twenties and established a unique style that composes the screen by sampling various motifs from ancient times to the east and west.

He has exhibited his works in the United States, Europe, and Asian countries, and last year he succeeded in large-scale projects in Japan such as public art at the east exit of JR Shinjuku Station and the installation of works by Meiji Jingu.



This exhibition will be held to commemorate the publication of this collection of works, and you can see original canvas works, three-dimensional works, print works, and a limited edition of 150 special edition works.

Tomokazu Matsuyama (TOMOKAZU MATSUYAMA)

Born in Gifu Prefecture in 1976, based in Brooklyn

After graduating from Sophia University, moved to the United States in 2002. Graduated from NY Pratt Institute at the top. Focusing on painting, he also works on sculptures and installations. The work shows polar elements such as East and West, Ancient and Contemporary, Concrete and Abstract, which reflects Matsuyama's own experience and informatization that grew up in both Japan and the United States. ing. He has held numerous exhibitions at galleries, museums and university facilities around the world, including major cities in the United States such as New York, Washington DC, San Francisco and Los Angeles, Japan, Dubai, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taipei and Luxemburg. His works are also in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, the Long Museum, the Microsoft Collection, and the Royal Collection of the Emirate of Dubai. He was an adjunct professor at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) for five years from 2012 to May 2017. In 2020, supervised the art space at the East Exit Square of JR Shinjuku Station, and produced a huge 7m sculpture in the center. In 2021, a special feature was set up at the NHK "Sunday Art Museum", and global activities and multi-layered production are highly evaluated. He currently has a studio in Brooklyn Greenpoint.
