Artist statement

This exhibition is centered around the important question, "Can a perfect world be realized?" After addressing the current refugees and climate crisis in my last solo exhibition, Reality, I began to imagine Plan B: Utopia, a perfect new world without damage, where no one would be the victim of man-made disaster. It's a fantasy. The word "utopia" was coined by Thomas More for "Utopia" (1516). In "Utopia" (1516), Moa envisions a complex, self-contained community set on an island, where people share a common culture and lifestyle. Utopia is a Greek word taken from eutopos, which means "good place", and refers to an imaginary world where everything is perfect. Under intense globalization, we are more connected to each other than ever before. In some way, we are a common entity that shares our responsibilities and obligations to the world.
