Ginza Tsutaya Bookstore (GINZASIX 6F, Chuo-ku, Tokyo) will hold an exhibition by Rintaro Umino "I like Manuke, Fun Nights" on the art book floor in the store as an exhibition project to commemorate the 5th anniversary, April 2022. It will be held from 1st (Friday) to May 8th (Sunday).

·Overview

At the beginning of the next five years, Ginza Tsutaya Bookstore is an up-and-coming artist, Rintaro Umino, who works on video works as an exhibition project that proposes "video works" as media art and an experience of active art appreciation. We are holding an exhibition "It's Manuke, I like a fun night".

Rintaro Unno is a noted artist who creates images and installations as "strange panoramic views" with motifs rooted in his own reality, such as religious icons and video games. In 2018, he completed the Department of Advanced Art Expression, Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts, and while presenting his own works, he is also active as a core member of the artist collective "Catharsis Kishibe".

In one of his major solo exhibitions, "Counterattack of the Scenery / Obsessive Exploration" (Tokyo Art and Space Hongo, 2019), the writer himself used the video of the first-person shooter as a motif. In the work, I asked what it means to "look" and "believe" in reality by shooting images taken by myself fixing the camera to the body and reproducing the blurring and movement of the image. In the "Phantasmapolis – 2021 Asian Art Biennial" (Kokusai Taiwan Museum of Art, 2021-2022), which was held in 2021 with the theme of "Futurism in Asia" and "Sci-fi in Asia", a collaboration with Dan Isomura was held. announcement. Participating in the group exhibition "Walking in a Multi-layered World" (ICC, 2022), the work that draws out the multiplicity of life, death, and the world while exploring the physical sensations of the same era using images and installations. We are attracting a great deal of attention as a next-generation artist.

In this exhibition, as a commemoration of the 5th anniversary of Ginza Tsutaya Bookstore, a series of video works in which the actual scene was shot with only specific movements using the video of a video game (First-Person Shooter) from a human perspective as a motif. And, we will announce a new video work shot on the stage of Ginza Tsutaya Bookstore.
In the new video work entitled "It's a Manuke, I like a fun night," which is also the title of the exhibition, fairies and spirits gather at the Ginza Tsutaya Bookstore on the night after the business closes on the 1st. While enjoying songs and nights, you can relax as you wish, and sometimes check each other's scents and voices. Their nights at the bookstore are full of humor, as if they were crazy (= stupid).

In this exhibition, where video works and photographic works are displayed as if going around the bookshelves in Ginza Tsutaya Bookstore, the bookstore space evokes a "dungeon" in the game and is active as if exploring a small dungeon. Through a traditional appreciation experience, we will explore the reality of overlapping reality and virtual images. In commemoration of this exhibition, ZINE (published by Ginza Tsutaya Bookstore), which summarizes the activities of Rintaro Unno, is also produced and is scheduled to be published in late May.
Please take this opportunity to enjoy the exhibition experience unique to bookstores.
