·Overview

A solo exhibition "armored space" by contemporary artist Tetsuya Noguchi, who continues to work on the theme of "armor and humans," will be held from August 16th (Tuesday) to August 31st (Wednesday).

Noguchi sees armor as a shell made by humans, and projects various thoughts and values onto it. Instead of clear emotions, the neutrally expressed human figures highlight the flexibility of human beings who live to adapt to any situation. Noguchi's work, which destroys viewers' stereotypes through the motif of armor and human beings, proposes a new sense of art that “makes you feel uncomfortable and sympathetic at the same time.''

In addition, Noguchi, who graduated from the oil painting department, is working not only on three-dimensional works, but also on many two-dimensional works. From classical painting techniques using acrylic paints to light illustrations, Noguchi expresses his ideas in a wide range of ways.

In this exhibition, in addition to three-dimensional works made with resin and chemical fibers, various sketches and drawings that were created in the process of conception of the work, and a new flat work created on the theme of "Armored Space", which is the theme of the exhibition. We will exhibit face works and more. (*Armored = wearing armor)

Please enjoy Tetsuya Noguchi's unique worldview where various thoughts and values intersect through armor.

・Artist statement

While dealing with extremely local motifs such as armor and helmets from the Far East, the idea that it is still possible to access the global world spreads like a vague underground tunnel at the base of my work. The branches and leaves seek further destinations, advance, and continue to search for veins of curiosity while connecting with various elements.

For me, it is a clue for thinking about all civilizations and human beings through armor, and it can be a light of wisdom that illuminates one's whereabouts in a dark tunnel.
