ATELIER MUJI special exhibition “There is a reason for good products. Exhibition – Muji Miyuki Tokunaga’s work -” and “Twilight” exhibitions will be held simultaneously

2/2 (Friday) – 3/25 (Monday)

Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd., which operates MUJI, will be holding a special exhibition from February 2nd (Friday) to March 25th (Sunday) at “ATELIER MUJI GINZA'' in “MUJI Ginza'' (Chuo-ku, Tokyo). There is a reason for quality products. The exhibition – MUJI Miyuki Tokunaga's work-'' will be held at Gallery 1, and the special exhibition “Twilight of Things'' will be held at Gallery 2.

■There is a reason why quality products are made. Exhibition -Muji Miyuki Tokunaga's work-

This exhibition focuses on the work of copywriter Miyuki Tokunaga, who has been involved in MUJI tag copying for many years. Since 2001, Mr. Tokunaga has supervised the Copy Workshop, an in-house training center designed to concisely convey product development perspectives and ideas. We received a great deal of cooperation not only from copying product tags, but also from MUJI's words.

MUJI's basic manufacturing philosophy is based on three principles: “selection of materials,'' “inspection of processes,'' and “simplification of packaging.'' In order to spread this message with universality, we have incorporated the “reason'' of each product into the product tag as a catchphrase. We will look back at Mr. Tokunaga's history of creating a context and establishing MUJI's origins as “Wake.'' At the venue, we will display product tags and products that we were involved with, as well as a number of product copies from the book “MUJI IS MUJI Archive.''

■Twilight Exhibition

Glass has been used for a variety of purposes since ancient times, but as soon as it becomes chipped, we are forced to choose between discarding it or recycling it. This exhibition will display the photographic works and subjects of photographer Akio Tomari, who has continued to photograph glass that remains, even if it is broken or distorted. Many of his works, which capture decay over time, seem to contain memories of life and the atmosphere of the dark twilight hours before sunset. Through Mr. Tomari's photographic works, we will reconsider the way we interact with the fragile things around us, and attempt to create an exhibition that will allow you to feel the “twilight'' of things hidden in our daily lives.
