Kamawanu, a specialty store for tenugui towels, will hold the Kamawanu Tenugui Exhibition at Ginza Itoya from Friday, April 18, 2025. This year's theme is "Tenugui and Ukiyo-e," and the exhibition will explore the relationship between tenugui, an indispensable daily item for people in the Edo period, and ukiyo-e, which was also a source of lifestyle and trends, and introduce the unique Japanese culture and lifestyle that can be felt through the use of tenugui.
Kamawanu Co., Ltd. will be holding the "Kamawanu Tenugui Exhibition" at the Ginza Itoya G.Itoya B1 Inspiration Hall from Friday, April 18th to Wednesday, May 7th, 2025.
This event was started with the desire to convey to more customers the charm of "tenugui," which has been an integral part of Japanese life since ancient times. This time, the theme is "tenugui and ukiyo-e," and we will unravel the relationship between tenugui, which was an indispensable daily item for people in the Edo period, and ukiyo-e, which was also a source of lifestyle and trends, and introduce the unique Japanese culture and lifestyle that can be felt through the use of tenugui. In addition, nearly 100 tenugui will be hanging from the ceiling to decorate the venue, welcoming everyone with a cool installation.
In addition, the venue will be selling over 250 types of tenugui, as well as limited edition tenugui designed with Kamawanu's unique perspective, inspired by the works of famous Japanese ukiyo-e artists such as Katsushika Hokusai and Kitagawa Utamaro, and will also be exhibiting and selling last year's winning entries from the Tenugui Design Contest held every year at this event.
For the first two days of Golden Week only, we will be holding a "Tenugui Stamp Workshop" that parents and children can enjoy together. This is a special workshop where you can stamp a half-sized tenugui with your favorite stamp and create a one-of-a-kind tenugui.

No reservation is required, so please feel free to join us. Depending on how busy it is, you may have to wait.
"Make your own original bleached dishcloth" *No reservation required, open at any time <br /> Using the original stamps newly introduced for the workshop, you can freely arrange "tenugui dishcloths," which are half the size of a tenugui, to create a one-of-a-kind item.
