Ginza Wako will be holding the "Takamori Seiji, Tanaka Shinobu, and Tsuji Satoshihiko Three-Person Exhibition – Restoring Light to Porcelain" at the Seiko House Hall from Thursday, July 31st to Monday, August 11th.
The town of Arita in Saga Prefecture has a history spanning more than 400 years and is said to be the birthplace of Japanese porcelain.
This exhibition introduces three ceramic artists who continue to create pottery in Arita and its surrounding areas.
Seiji Takamori specializes in a wide range of expressions, making use of the extensive experience he gained from studying a wide range of pottery, from white porcelain to classical overglaze porcelain.
Shinobu Tanaka uses "yurikou" (underglaze red), a color that originates from the Yuan Dynasty in China, to paint flowers and creatures with striking pale yet deep hues.
Tsuji Satoshihiko poetically expresses the memorable landscapes he encounters during his travels in his wall and three-dimensional works using line engraving techniques and gradations.
The theme this time was "Light in Porcelain." The light of nature, the light of the mind…
This exhibition brings together three diverse expressions of "light" by three artists, each deeply imprinted with the creators' images.
