"Mortality"
The group of video works "Refraction" was created as a work that confronts the limitless imagination of human beings. the Visuals (2022)”. In this exhibition, in addition to the 6 works released in "Unlearning the Visuals", a total of 11 works, including 2 new large-scale works and 3 small-scale works, will appear in the atrium of Ginza Tsutaya Bookstore. The frame was created by Kinichi Ogata of OGATA Inc., which handles space design. The work is framed with a different design for each size. In addition, we will start selling it so that you can own it as a new era art piece that decorates your office, gallery, home, etc.
・Introduction of works
"Refraction" is a group of video works that means "distortion". By superimposing a grid-shaped curved acrylic on the display where the image is projected, the image is distorted, blurred, and projected like a mosaic image. When the viewer confronts this work, by imagining the "other side" of the imperfect image, the viewer complements and reconstructs the image.
We are exposed to a lot of visual information on a daily basis due to the spread of high-definition imaging devices and SNS. As the opposite of high resolution and perfection, this work attempts to experience the beauty that exists in imperfection by surrendering oneself to the infinite imagination that human beings inherently have, i.e. infinite resolution.
