This is the 48th exhibition at Wako by Inoue Manji, a holder of the Important Intangible Cultural Property for "White Porcelain."
Ginza Wako will be holding the "Inoue Manji White Porcelain Exhibition: Seigaiha of My Heart" at the Seiko House Hall (formerly Wako Hall) from June 20th (Thurs) to 30th (Sun) by Inoue Manji, a holder of the Important Intangible Cultural Property (Living National Treasure) for "white porcelain." Works themed on "Seigaiha," which Inoue created with his wish for a peaceful life, will be on display.
"I was born in 1929 and am now 95 years old. Even with the years, there is no limit to art. I am interested in what I see and hear, always keep my health in mind, and want to continue to be passionate about pottery making," says Inoue, who faces white porcelain with a renewed sense of enthusiasm every day. In the world of white porcelain, where "perfection" is required, he is always challenging himself with new themes and different styles of work, and in this exhibition he has applied patterns to a wide variety of works based on the theme of "Seigaiha pattern," which is filled with a wish for peace.
In addition, approximately 100 pieces will be on display, including white porcelain created using outstanding wheel-throwing techniques, as well as vases, incense burners, sake vessels, and tableware with beautiful contrasts of white and green created by applying different glazes.
Please take this opportunity to view a wide variety of works.
A gallery talk by Inoue Manji is scheduled (reservation required).
