Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd., operator of IDÉE, will be holding its first ever art event, "TOKYO ARTSCAPES," from Friday, September 27th to Sunday, November 24th, based at MUJI Ginza and expanding to the surrounding town, to imagine art in the everyday.
"TOKYO ARTSCAPES" is an event held as part of "Life in Art," a project that IDÉE and MUJI have been working on to spread art (= culture) under the theme of "everyday art," which aims to incorporate art into daily life.
"TOKYO ARTSCAPES 2024" will be comprised of four sections: [Exhibition], [Performance], [Fair], and [Research], and will develop a variety of content that will allow you to imagine everyday life in a cultural way through art, research, etc. All of these elements will have the word "culture" as a point of contact, connecting art to individuals and then to society, with the aim of reconsidering the value of art in everyday life while interpreting culture from various perspectives, and making Ryohin Keikaku's vision of "a pleasant life and society" more tangible and familiar.
■TOKYO ARTSCAPES 2024
At IDÉE, we believe that by changing your perspective, you can see art in the everyday scenery, and that a sense of beauty can be cultivated through conscious daily actions. We believe that this accumulation leads to the "rich life with art" that we propose.
Art is not just beauty; it can refer to paintings and sculptures, and if we take a broader view of aesthetics, social movements such as education, environmental protection, and religion can also be interpreted as artistic activities and artworks. By consciously engaging in these various activities, we can ask ourselves how we see and think about things, what kind of life we want to live, and how we want to interact with society, communities, and people. We believe that providing opportunities for such experiences is one of the rich roles that art has traditionally played, and so we are holding TOKYO ARTSCAPES 2024.
